Why the Start-Up Nation May Become the Source of Preventing Alzheimer’s Disease”:
On Sunday, July 14th, 2019 over 80 guests attended a sold-out breakfast salon for Friends of Sheba Medical Center (FSMC) featuring Professor Michal Beeri at LA’s exclusive Hillcrest Country Club. Prof. Beeri is a recognized world leader in the study of Alzheimer’s Disease and the Director of the Joseph Sagol Neuroscience Research Center at Sheba Medical Center. The breakfast was generously hosted by Jean and Jerry Friedman, dedicated supporters of FSMC. The breakfast also celebrated Sheba’s recognition by Newsweek magazine as one of the top 10 hospitals in the world. Prof. Beeri’s keynote presentation focused on how Israel is well-positioned to become the source of preventing Alzheimer’s disease. She also addressed the critical role new technologies play in the early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease. Friends of Sheba was pleased to welcome special guests Dina Leeds, Soraya Nazarian, Myrtle Sitowitz, Rosalie Zalis and Alexandra (Sandy) Gleysteen, Executive Producer of Shriver Media and Maria Shriver’s Alzheimer’s nonprofit, The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement. Members of Friends of Sheba’s Board of Directors proudly attended the event including: Jean Friedman, Marianne Berman, Helene and Ben Boston, Parvin Djavaheri, Dr. Harry Green, Barbara Lazaroff, Adrian Miller, Judy Flesh Rosenberg, Agi Schwartz, Judy and Aron Shapiro, Judie Stein and Lynn Ziman. Rising members of Friends of Sheba’s young leadership, Sheba 2.0, joined the event, too, to learn and lend their support.
